Weekend Reading – This is Why America’s In Trouble Edition

by Darwin on January 7, 2011

In the spirit of starting off the new year by trying to change the corruption and theft that is destroying America, I thought I’d highlight my favorite article of the week point out the absurdity of public sector worker pension abuses.  If you want to criticize Chris Christie or other politicians looking to reform pension abuses, please read this article if full.  It is an eloquent and factual account of the various ways government employees are fleecing the country – and if you mention it in your classroom like this professor did – the Sheriff will knock on your door and intimidate you into an apology – literally.  Incredible.  Take a look at THE SECRET SAUCE BEHIND BLOATED STATE PENSIONS.  I applaud MSNBC for hosting this article since they don’t normally cover what is typically a Fox-type story.  But this is just a microcosm of what public pensions are doing to the country everywhere.  If we don’t reign this in, we’re in trouble.

Now, on to better and brighter topics.  There were a bunch of great reads out there this week, so without further ado:

That article on pension abuses is incredible. I normally think of corruption in government in terms of obvious things like bribes, but those abuses are just as bad.

Hey Darwin, thanks for including my article in your list! I am going to read the article that you highlighted, because I am both an NJ state employee and a Chris Christie fan (there are not too many people who fit into both camps)!
