Weekend Reading: It’s Earnings Season! Again.

by Darwin on July 22, 2010

I crack up each time earnings season rolls around and the talking heads on CNBC say, “It’s the most important earnings season in years – this is a pivotal point in the stock market, tune in”.  Either they say this a lot or I just happen to tune in when they’re saying it, but they claim that each earnings season is the most important in years – EVERY QUARTER.  I guess it wouldn’t sit well with the network executives if they yawned and said that the earnings in 2008 and 2009 were actually much more pivotal than this quarter’s since we’re no longer on the brink of economic Armageddon, but I wish the world were full of less BS once in a while.

So, within my holdings, Apple (AAPL) crushed earnings and I made over 200% in a single day playing their earnings, Chipotle (CMG) knocked it out of the park.  Meanwhile (I don’t only brag about wins), I got toasted on Netflix (NFLX) and Amazon (AMZN).  Baidu…so-so.  With that backdrop, here were my favorite reads from the web in the past couple weeks as well as articles I wrote that you may enjoy:

Becky Quick or whatever her name is in the picture is nice. But even she is someone who can’t make me watch the incessant noise that is CNBC.
